Tips & Tricks

Here we give you some ideas of how you can travel cheaper to and from Belgrade. It is made from our experiences :)

For the Balkan states (Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey and Greece) it is best to buy a Balkan flexipass ticket which costs 50 euros (if you are younger than 26) to travel 5, 10 or 15 days within a month (any 5 days you want in that month) on Balkan railways. The offer is available for people older than 26 but it then costs 90 euros. Ask about that at the railway station in your city. There is a possibility to buy this ticket in non Balkan states, you can check it. There are special offers for a few cities (Vienna, Munich, Bucharest and Skopje).

Also, all kinds of interrail ticket can be a good option (www.interrailnet.com).

One cheaper way to come to Belgrade is to fly to Budapest and then take the train or minibus. Wizzair is one of the low-cost airlines which travel from Budapest to bigger cities in England, Sweden, and Norway, and to Brussels, Paris, Barcelona... (www.wizzair.com). Also, there are EasyJet, SkyEurope and other companies, check (www.whichbudget.com). Ferihegy Terminal 1 is the airport in Budapest where you would arrive and from there you have bus number 200 to first station of the metro (blue line). With metro is not complicated to reach the international railway station (ask at the information desk at the airport). Trains to Belgrade go twice per day about 13:00 and 23:00. A return ticket is about 30 euros. The minibus would pick you up at airport and drive you to any address in Belgrade which you want. A return ticket is 70 euros.
